![]() If you haven't tried CCI hi-velocity ammo like Mini-mags in your pistol I would definitely do so. This is a trait shared by quite a few other 22lr autoloaders. The P22 is know to perform most reliably with high velocity 22lr ammunition. My pistol has quite a few malfunctions with failures to feed or stovepipe jams initially but it seems to have smoothed out on its own and rarely malfunctions nowadays. There is a part of the top of the hammer that has been "polished" where it rides over the safety lever spindle, but it seems otherwise OK. My particular pistol has not shown any signs of slide cracking or severe wear. But the slide action is not particularly smooth by any means. I suspect that it was designed that way because the steel spindle holds up to the abuse better than the rather weak metal of the slide itself would. The hammer on the P22 is cocked by riding over the round spindle of the safety lever and it tends to "bump" at both the front and back end of the round spindle. I am not sure if what you are describing with the slide action indicates any problem. I have heard a number of P22 owners have had cracked slides replaced by Walther. ![]() There have also been quite a few reports of cracked slides due to the rather poor composition of the metal. Yes, the pistol does have a reputation for poor reliability and being fussy about ammo. I have had a Walther P22 for some years now. The pistol is a complete POS IMO.Īnyone else run into this problem, or this kind of service & run around by Walther?īesides smashing it into a million pieces and pitching it into the nearest river, any suggestions? If it was mine I would be more than a little upset with Walther. A blind man could see and feel there is something terribly wrong, and it wont run on any ammo. They obviously didnt even try to shoot it or rack it. They sent this BACK to Walther twice, and both times it was returned and Walther told them it was fixed and ran fine. This thing jams constantly, whether it stove pipes, fails to feed, fails to extract, and sometimes when it does fire, hits you square in the face with the brass. ![]() One place is on the hammer, again, the other bad spot, is unknown. Then when releasing to the front, it has (2) more areas it catches. So (3) places during rack to the rear it is catching BAD. And it also feels like there is ANOTHER spot where something in there causeing a grinding feeling. When I tried to rack the slide, it was clear the slide is catching on the hammer in two places during the rack to the rear. ![]() I had read and seen several video's where these model were jamomatics for a whole host of failure reason. My Son & daughter inlaw showed me her Walther P22 tonight. ![]()
